Uterine involution is the change of uterus after childbirth which slowly starting the original state before pregnancy. The abnormal process of uterine involution may caused subinvolution. Subinvolution is the failure of the uterus to follow the normal pattern of involution and may lead postpartum hemorrhage. Early breastfeeding initiation is one of the factor that influence uterine involution. This study aims to know the relationship of early breastfeeding initiation with uterine involution. This type of study is analitic with cross sectional design. The population in this study are normal baring mother in Adnaan WD Hospital. The sample numbered 36 people with sampling technique is accidental sampling. Data are taken by using the observation sheet for mother who did early breastfeeding initiation and maternal uterine fundus height measurement on the 7 day postpartum. Data were analyzed using chi-square test. The result showed that most respondent did early breastfeeding initiation are 28 respondents (77,8%) and most respondent have normal uterine involution are 26 respondents (92,9%). There is a relationship of early breastfeeding initiation with uterine involution of normal postpartum mother on the 7 day (P=0,003).The conclusion of this study is there is a relationship of early breastfeeding with uterine involution of normal postpartum mother on the 7 day in Adnaan WD Hospital Payakumbuh in 2015. Expected to healthy workers to apply this early breastfeeding intiatiion because it can affect uterus contraction in involution process and prevent hemorrhage postpartum.
