Musculoskeletal rheumatoid arthritis is a disease that affects many elderly, the disease causes many such complaints, sore feet, knees, hips, waist, arms, neck and various other joints, and consequences of the disease rheumatoid arthritis may experience paralysis due to spinal damage . With the high number of patients with rheumatoid arthritis due to the increasing number of elderly in particular boast in The Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Kasih Sayang IbuKanagarian Cubadak Batusangkar, One effort to reduce rheumatoid arthritis pain that is with a warm ginger compress because ginger contains the enzyme cyclo-oxygenase and has a pharmacological effect that is hot and spicy flavor that can reduce pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. This study aims to look at the influence of warm ginger compress to decrease the intensity of pain in the elderly rheumatoid arthtritis Panti Sosialtresna Werdha Kasih Sayang Ibu Kanagarian Cubadak Batusangkar. This study used an experimental method of one-group pretest- posttest design using a total sampling with a sample of 19 people, collecting data through interviews with measuring outcomes assessment using the numeric rating scale, mean pain intensity before a warm ginger compress 4.79 and after warm ginger compress 2.58. The results obtained rheumatoid arthritis pain intensity difference before and after warm ginger compress. This is evidenced by the t-test t value obtained at 13.509 (t table = 1.8331) with a significance value = 0.000, with a warm ginger compress these results can be used as an alternative to reduce pain intensity and pain felt by the elderly suffering rheumatoid arthritis. It was concluded that a warm ginger compress effect on rheumatoid arthritis decrease pain intensity and can be resumed as intervention can be carried out independently by people with rheumatoid arthritis.
