Nurses who have good communication skills is one of the success factors in implementing the nursing process. According to the 2001 National Census data for inpatient health services are widely used are government hospitals (37.1%) and private hospitals (34.3%) the rest are maternity hospitals and health centers, whereas for therapeutic communication services concluded that dissatisfaction of therapeutic communication services to government and private outpatient and inpatient care is increasing. The design of this study used a descriptive corelation with approach crooss sectional approach. The population of this study were all patients who were in a surgical inpatient RSI Avicenna Bukittinggi with a sampling technique that accidental sampling with a sample of 38 people. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire to measure the part I and part II of therapeutic communication to measure the level of patient satisfaction. Analysis of data on research using univariate and bivariate analysis. The analysis showed almost half (35.2%) of respondents stated therapeutic communication the nurse does not good and half (50.0%) of respondents were not satisfied the therapeutic nurse communication. Results of bivariate analysis using chi-square there is a relationship between the therapeutic nurse communication with client satisfaction levels (p = 0.040).
Result: The conclusion from this research that there is a relationship between the therapeutic nurse communication with the patient's level of satisfaction in the inpatient surgical RSI Avicenna Bukittinggi in 2014 is expected to be input for care institutions and educational institutions, and can be used as a reference for further research.
