Pengaruh Konsumsi Mentimun Terhadap Penurunan Tekanan Darah Pasien Hipertensi Pada Lansia Di Desa Talang Pantai Kabupaten Bungo

At a later age, hypertension is defined as 160 mmHg systolic pressure and diastolic pressure of 90 mmHg. Hypertension is often referred to as a major problem in public health, generally experienced by the elderly. The prevalence of hypertension in the elderly in the world in 2011 reached 243,925,345 patients (WHO, 2011). In Indonesia, based on Riskesdas in 2013, hypertension is ranked sixth of the top ten diseases in Indonesia, reaching 25.8% of the total number of elderly. Based on a report from the Muara Bungo II Health Center in 2016, an increase in cases of hypertension 10% from the previous year. In addition to drugs, hypertension can also be overcome with traditional medicine that is using a cucumber that is processed into a drink. Cucumber is diuretic because of its high water content that helps lower blood pressure. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of cucumber consumption on blood pressure drop in hypertensive patients in elderly in Talang Beach Village. This study uses quasi experimental design method with the design used is pre test and post test one group. The sampling technique used saturated sampling or total population of 60 respondents, 30 respondents of intervention group and 30 respondents control group with inclusion criteria. The study was conducted for 10 days. The assessment uses an observation sheet of cucumber consumption, a scale for measuring mentiun consumption and a digital spignomanometer for measuring blood pressure. Data analysis used is univariate and bivariate with t-test. The results of this study were obtained in the control group, p value for systole and diastole was 0.084 and 0.088> 0.05, so in the control group there was no difference in blood pressure. While in the intervention group the value of p value for systole and diastole was 0.001 and 0.001 <0.05. Thus Ho is rejected. The conclusion of the study of the effect of cucumber consumption on the decrease in blood pressure of hypertensive patients in elderly people in Talang Pantai Village that there was a significant decrease between mean systolic blood pressure in treatment group before and after given cucumber consumption.
