Pain during labor could influence labor process, generating dread to mother, causing hyperventilation incidence, and improvement of blood pressure which is on finally can cause the happening of long labor process and also disturb prosperity of fetus. Handling and observation of pain labor especially at active phase to be something important, because of this as determinant to a mother could experience normal labor or terminated with an action because of existence of resulted by complicated thing such as severe. This research to describe the effects of lemon aromatherapy inhalation on the reduction of first stage labor pain in the active phase. The study is a Pre Experimental with One Group Pretest Posttest. The population in this study is the maternity mothers in midwife house practise “H” Bukittinggi in 2017. Samples numbered 17 people with sampling technique that accidental sampling. By using a numeric pain scale measurement in labor pain scale (pretest and posttest) for 30 minutes. Data are analyzed using t test dependent. The results showed that of 17 mothers who have used lemon inhalation aromatherapy, most of them have decreased pain score for 5 respondents (88,2%) and a few scores on the pain scale are 2 respondents (11,8%). Result of t test dependent is p 0,000<0,05. The conclusion of this research is inhaled lemon aromatherapy effect on reducing first stage labor pain in active phase, is expected to make the medical personnal with inhaled lemon aromatherapy as nonpharmacologic pain management to the reduction of first stage labor pain in the active phase.
