Drugs are chemicals that can alter the state of psychology such as feelings, thoughts, mood and behavior if it gets into the human body a drug abuse affects the family, school and community environments. The incidence of drug abuse is highest in sub Kubang Duo Koto Panjang with 48 cases. This study aims to determine the relationship Level of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Economic Factors on Parental Efforts in the Prevention of Drug Abuse in Adolescents in Koto Panjang. Where the independent variables that will be examined is the level of Knowledge, Attitude and Economic Factors. The dependent variable is the Parent Efforts in the Prevention of Drug Abuse in Adolescents in Koto Panjang.
Type a descriptive analytic study was cross-sectional approach. The population in this study is the parents who have teenagers in Koto Panjang as many as 246 people. Samples taken as many as 71 people with a random sampling technique. The data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate chi -Square.
The results were obtained half (50.7%) of respondents had high knowledge, more than half (63.4%) of respondents have a positive attitude (66.2%) of respondents with low economic. There is a relationship with the knowledge level of parental effort in the prevention of drug abuse (P value 0.001), There is a relationship between the attitude of the efforts of parents in preventing drug abuse (P value 0.001) and no correlation between the effort Economic Factors Parents in Drug Abuse Prevention in teens in Koto Panjang in 2014 (P value 0.000).
For society to continue to anticipate the dangers of drugs. Parents are expected to always maintain and pay attention to their children not to fall into the danger of drugs.
